This fall we launched our all new down comforter to complete our bedding collection. If you’re hesitant to ditch your cozy cocoon of a sleeping bag, we’re here to compare the benefits of using the HEST down comforter to a sleeping bag. While both options have great insulation benefits, depending on the temperature rating of your sleeping bag and the temperature outside, our new down comforter might have you second guessing the way you snuggle up in your camping setup.

THERMOREGULATION

Sometimes regulating your body temperature when sleeping and camping can be an adventure within itself. When you crawl into bed you’re a little chilly, then you realize that you wore too many layers, and then early morning comes and you’re feeling cold again - what gives! The HEST down comforter comes with a 650 down fill power and the cinch and tuck bottom allows for thermoregulation, so you don’t need to worry about the changing temperatures while you sleep. You’ll be able to cinch the bottom of the comforter and tuck it under your mattress to protect from any drafts, so you stay bundled up. Feet get too hot? Just release the cinch and you’ll be able to get some fresh air. It’s important during the night to allow your glabrous skin (fancy word for hands and feet) to be exposed to reduce temperatures quickly and effectively.

NOT RESTRICTIVE

Let’s be honest, sometimes our sleeping bags can feel like a cocoon. Want to sprawl out when sleeping? Looks like you’ll have to sacrifice warmth by unzipping for more freedom. Our down comforter allows you to have your cake and eat it too. The HEST down comforter feels just like your comforter at home, so you’ll be able to sprawl out on your camping mattress and stay nice and warm at the same time.

sPOONABLE

Zipping two sleeping bags together doesn’t give the same level of coziness of snuggling under your comforter at home, does it? You zip them up and one person is inevitably searching for the bottom foot pouch but can’t find it. Luckily, our down comforter comes in two sizes, so if you’re trying to cuddle up to your sleeping partner, the double size will allow you to both keep warm without any zippers or need to search for your side of the sleeping bag.

QUIET

Sleeping bags have the tendency to be on the loud side. Your sleeping partner tossing and turning at night with the “swishing” sound of a sleeping bag can keep our fellow light sleepers up. So if you’re looking for a solution to avoid the noise, the HEST down comforter is made with premium soft materials that will keep that “swishing” sound to a minimum, so you can stay asleep regardless of what is happening around you.

STAYS IN PLACE

Ever wake up in the morning and you’ve completely slipped off your camping sleeping pad? Same. The down comforter is designed with a cinch and tuck footbox so you can customize your sleeping system. Just like the hood on your rain or ski jacket, the cinch bottom allows you to tuck the comforter around the foot of the mattress so it won’t move even when you do at night. Plus, the thermoregulation from the cinch and tuck feature is an added bonus.
