What do you like most about your rig?

Honestly that’s such a hard question because I put a lot of time and energy into building every part of this truck. If I had to choose one thing though, I would just say the overall build of it. I enjoy the way I put it all together for exactly what I like to do. I like that I can mob the deserts, hit whoop sections, climb rocks, and then pop up my GFC RTT in the matter of seconds anywhere I want. My Hest mattress is already up there so I’m always comfy. The GFC is so light and easy that I just take it off sometimes and go out for the day. I didn’t want to get stuck building a strictly overland build, or just a pre runner so I wanted a little bit of both and I am extremely happy about where it’s at right now. I feel like I also love the clean outside look of the truck with nothing hanging or attached to it. I have the bed set up in the back to hold all my recovery gear nice and keep it neat on the inside.

On your average weekend adventure, what is the gear set up you bring with you? How did you navigate gear storage needs into your rig set up?

Honestly my average weekend adventure I try to pack just the necessities to keep weight low so I can drive the truck hard :D I have molle panels set up on the GFC window and on my bed rails so I have everything I need for recovery and necessities always on the truck. I built a simple twin size double decker system that covers the driver half of the bed to help with storage on bringing sleeping necessities, chairs, extra gas, burners and even space for my surfboards and skateboards. In the extra cab is where I’ll bring my cooler, extra clothes, speaker, walkie talkies, or whatever fun activities I wanna play with.

Any custom details?

I feel like I’ve added a decent amount of my own custom details to a lot of the truck. But one that I'm pretty proud of would be the front grill. It was one of the first DIY mods I did to the truck. I took a TRD Pro style grille, cut out the “TOYOTA” that was written on it before and I put a piece of plastic with the letters “TACOMA” written on it. And then I added a super dim light bar behind it and then wired it to my DRL Headlights. So when I turn my headlights the letters TACOMA will illuminate.

Coolest place you’ve taken your rig to?

I think one of the coolest places I’ve taken my rig would be up in the sequoias. I camped out in my truck right on the lake near the old YMCA Skate camp. It was just a really cool experience to sleep in the beautiful forest, wake up on the lake, jump out of my tent and go skate.

Any projects in the pipeline to get your rig even more adventure ready?

There will be a forever list of more projects to add. Just to name a couple -  I would like to add a simple dual battery/solar set up, re-gear to 5.29s, and do some sort or rear bumper setup. Most likely a pre-runner simple tubular style one.

Biggest challenge in your build out?

I honestly couldn't name the biggest challenge. I love building my truck and if I run into issues on installing something or figuring something out I genuinely enjoy the challenge and learning process.

Tips for others looking to do the same to their vehicle?

My biggest tip would be to go slow. Don’t jump straight into spending the money and buying parts that you see other people having. Take her out, go camping with just the necessities. Find what you like and dislike and go from there. It’s such fun process building your truck and using it for what it’s built for, there’s no need to rush the process.
