Getaway

What do you like most about your rig?

The versatility of it! This is also our work truck, so we use it to haul event gear around the country. Our trips are always different and the gear we carry changes often. Having the empty but enclosed bed means we can change it up as needed, but then still use it as an errand truck for hauling garden supplies or running to the hardware store. We love that we can use our air compressor to blow all the sand and dirt out of the bed!

On your average weekend adventure, what is the gear set up you bring with you? How did you navigate gear storage needs into your rig set up?

We almost always have our e-bike on our hitch and our inflatable kayak inside the canopy. The Super Pacific X1 has a ton of modular organization options like molle panels so we keep most things secured to the canopy itself and have the flexibility to swap things out depending on the adventure.

Any custom details?

Not yet! We’re planning to build a storage cabinet and bench with a small sink and space for our fridge.

Coolest place you’ve taken your rig to?

We had the camper installed at Super Pacific in Portland, Oregon and crossed the Mexico border three days later. We’re writing this from the beaches of Baja!

Any projects in the pipeline to get your rig even more adventure ready?

We’ve already ordered new bumpers for higher clearance at the front and back!

Biggest challenge in your build out?

To be honest, our current bike rack sucks. We have to take the bike off every time we need to get in the  back and have been collecting bruises on our shins from it. We’d like to get a swing arm but our e-bike is fairly heavy so we need a rack that can handle the weight.

Tips for others looking to do the same to their vehicle?

Take it out for a trip or two before building out the canopy. It’s a great way to decide what projects to prioritize first and what can wait. Super Pacific has an online forum that we’ve drawn a ton of inspiration from - it’s really cool to see what other folks have done to theirs.
